The Ravyen has been hyped on the internet for months now and now that I have my hands on one, I can finally write a review. The Rayven is a semi-automatic gun that operates on a flywheel system like thst of the Barricade and the Nitron - its flywheel system is quieter than the others though and like the Nitron, it has a secondary trigger below the primary to activate the flywheels. It sadly cannot be fired w/o batteries and it takes 4 AAs. The Firefly clip takes 3 AAs to activate the glow feature but you can use the clip without this feature. The glow feature works fairly well but requires about 3 seconds of exposure to "charge" the dart fully and most people will be able to fire about 3 darts a second so some will glow well, others hardly at all.

It is ridiculously light-weight and balanced. It is a bullpup design so the barrel is much longer than it looks - barrel extensions will throw off the balance and lessen overall distance. It fires around 25 feet consistently... Read more

I have Office Cube Wars, Humans vs Zombies Tag, and a boyfriend who loves to buy Nerf to contend with. I have a LOT of Nerf weaponry, and I LIKE this one.

Pros:

1. Light weight! So very, very lightweight! I LOVE this!

2. Very nice feel, grip, and form factor. I'm a very short adult that preteen boys tend to tower over, but the office giant also cooed over the grip. When you hold the wide, easy grip, you can tuck the butt of the gun against your upper arm and lean the body of it on your forearm for gorgeous, easy handling.

3. Automatic. Usually "automatic Nerf" means stupidly heavy batteries that die in one or two days, but they FIXED that in this one. The tiny sub-trigger starts the motor in less than 2 seconds (which can feel like ages when a zombie is after you, but I digress). I see other reviews that complain that one or another trigger is too difficult to pull. Mine does not have this issue, and I think I'm enough of a wimp... Read more

I am frustrated to have to give a negative review for this gun, because of all that it manages to get right, but the terrible design of the trigger mechanism makes it useless for me. It was purchased for a 7-year-old, claimed by me when he couldn't use it, and now being returned to Target.

First of all, I do have to acknowledge the many design aspects which are dead-on fantastic:

1) The gun is ridiculously lightweight, which was especially nice for the original recipient. The size is also great, fitting both a 7-year-old and me (6'2" adult) reasonably well.

2) The gun adds a separate motor trigger (a common modification on the Barricade) which prevents having to keep the motor running continuously, saving battery life and reducing the annoying motor noise.

3) There is an accessory rail above the carry handle, but also a second one on the right side of the gun. An additional place for an accessory is great, and it looks very cool... Read more
